Help Improve Availability of Information Under Consumer Product Safety Act

Since 2014, the Consumer Public Safety Commission (CPSC) has been trying to amend federal regulations to make it easier for consumers to become aware of unsafe products. This has been opposed by the corporate/manufacturing lobbying interests and trade groups. The effort has received very little support from the consumers it is designed to protect because this is very technical and obscured from daily public attention.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is seeking comments on a proposed rule change involving the disclosure of product safety information to the public. This process has been open for many years (2014) but closes very soon on April 3, 2023.

So far, most of the comments have been from manufacturers and trade groups who generally want to further restrict safety information to the public.

If you are inclined, I urge you to take a few minutes and share your support for regulatory amendments which provide better safety knowledge for you and your loved ones.

This link will take you right to the comment page for this specific proposed rule:  Federal Register :: Information Disclosure Under Section 6(b) of the Consumer Product Safety Act.
